The InnoMedCatalyst project invites innovative companies, start-ups, SMEs, research organisations and healthcare innovators to participate in a unique European consortium-building programme designed to accelerate the development of collaborative innovation projects in 5P Medicine. Rather than providing direct financial support, InnoMedCatalyst offers a structured pathway to help innovators build strong multidisciplinary consortia, refine their value proposition and prepare competitive project concepts for future European funding opportunities (including the I3 Instrument and Horizon Europe). What We Are Looking For We are seeking early-stage collaborative project ideas that address challenges or opportunities in Predictive, Preventive, Personalised, Participatory and Precision Medicine (5P Medicine). Applicants should already have the foundation of a collaborative consortium and demonstrate a clear ambition to develop a competitive European project concept. Each application must: Be submitted on behalf of a consortium comprising a minimum of two independent partner organizations. Clearly describe the innovation challenge or opportunity being addressed. Present an innovative technology, solution, service, research result or clinical application within the field of 5P Medicine. Identify the complementary expertise and additional partners required to strengthen the consortium and prepare for future European funding opportunities. The InnoMedCatalyst consortium-building programme will support selected applicants in expanding their partnerships, strengthening their project concept and developing a competitive interregional consortium. Who Can Apply? Applications are welcome from consortia consisting of at least two independent organisations from two different regions; one of the organization needs to be established in one of the following InnoMedCatalyst regions: Greece Romania Bulgaria Poland Belgium Italy Spain Portugal Eligible organisations include: Start-ups/ Spin-offs Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) Biotechnology companies MedTech companies Digital Health companies Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) Universities Hospitals and healthcare providers The programme particularly encourages multidisciplinary partnerships combining research, healthcare, industry and innovation support organisations. How the Programme Works The Open Call follows a collaborative innovation pathway designed to transform individual innovations into competitive European project consortia. Step 1 – Apply Submit your organisation, technology, expertise or innovation challenge through the Life Science Open Space Platform until August 31st. Participation is free of charge and does not provide direct funding. Step 2 – Evaluation Applications will be assessed based on innovation excellence, relevance to 5P Medicine and their potential to contribute to multidisciplinary European collaborations. Step 3 – Selection Up to 15 organisations will be selected to participate in the consortium-building programme. Step 4 – Matchmaking Selected participants will take part in targeted matchmaking activities to identify complementary partners from industry, research organisations, healthcare providers and technology developers. Step 5 – Consortium Building Participants will work together to define common objectives, develop integrated solutions and establish competitive European consortia. Step 6 – Expert Mentoring Each consortium will receive up to 20 hours of dedicated mentoring, including support on: consortium development value proposition refinement business model development commercialisation strategy technology validation pathways proposal development identification of suitable European funding opportunities Step 7 – Proposal Development Consortia will prepare a mature collaborative proposal outline that can later be expanded into a full application for a suitable European funding call (including Horizon Europe and the I3 Instrument). Expected Commitment Selected consortia will be expected to: Build upon their existing partnership of at least two organisations and actively engage in expanding their consortium through the InnoMedCatalyst matchmaking activities. Participate in consortium-building workshops and networking events. Participate in mentoring, proposal development activities and business development activities. Support the preparation of at least one collaborative European project proposal. Collaborate with complementary partners from across the InnoMedCatalyst regions. Contribute to the development of a competitive European project concept targeting future Horizon Europe, I3 or other relevant European funding opportunities. Nominate a lead organisation to coordinate communications and represent the consortium throughout the programme. The InnoMedCatalyst I3 project invites healthcare providers to express their interest in participating as real-world test beds for the validation and demonstration of innovative solutions in predictive, preventive, personalised, participatory and precision medicine (5P Medicine). Beyond serving as test environments, participating organisations will play a central role in identifying unmet clinical or operational needs within their institutions. These needs will form the basis for targeted matchmaking with innovators capable of developing or adapting solutions to address them. Through this needs-driven approach, selected healthcare providers will be matched with high-potential innovators to co-develop and validate solutions tailored to real-world challenges. This ensures that innovation activities are directly aligned with healthcare priorities and have a higher potential for adoption and impact. In addition, each healthcare provider–innovator pair will receive dedicated one-to-one mentoring support (up to 20 hours) from the InnoMedCatalyst consortium. This tailored support will guide partners through the co-creation of a competitive project proposal for submission to upcoming funding opportunities, including future I3 calls and relevant Horizon Europe programmes. This integrated pathway—needs identification, matchmaking, real-world testing and proposal development—is designed to accelerate innovation uptake while significantly increasing the likelihood of securing follow-up funding. Who we are: The InnoMedCatalyst project is a European initiative aimed at enhancing the regional innovation capacity of precision and personalized medicine ecosystems. It focuses on enabling start-ups, spinoffs, scaleups and healthcare providers to develop, test and refine digital health solutions as investment-ready business cases. The project aims to catalyze innovation and bridge the gap between MedTech companies and Healthcare providers, creating a sustainable entrepreneurial empowerment program that offers mentorship to advance the most promising digital technologies identified in partner countries. By 2026, the project aims to generate at least 20 investment-ready projects in precision medicine, with a strong focus on the regional level and involving several partners.
