Stowarzyszenie Inżynierów i Techników Mechaników PolskiThe Society of Mechanical Engineers and Technicians of Poland (SIMP) is a voluntary democratic, self-governing and permanent organization of social utility, bringing together about 11,000 mechanical engineers and technicians of all specialties and related professions. SIMP's pedigree dates back to 1926.
The Krakow Branch of SIMP began its work in Malopolska in 1946. This was undoubtedly fostered by such circumstances as the large influx of fellow engineers and mechanical technicians to Cracow, the only almost undestroyed city at the time, the relatively rapid launch of machine-building plants, the establishment of numerous design and construction offices in the machine-building industry (both in the city and the province).
From the very beginning of the Branch's existence, its activities developed in parallel in two main directions, the first of which included organizational issues, and the second set of substantive activities, resulting from the statutory goals and tasks of SIMP, resolutions of the general meetings of delegates of the Association and the general meetings of the Branch.
